Those little things that make a difference!

There are a million things that can keep one stressed, unhappy, depressed or just tired. Keeping happy can be a real juggling act these days. There are so many things demanding our time, I understand it can sometimes be very hard to not be stressed or stay calm. However, what I have found is doing some basic things can have a big impact on your overall ecosystem. What’s better is – it works equally for the person you are communicating with. It is a win-win deal!

Say thank you –

Numerous situations arise every single day that warrant our genuine appreciation and gratitude. Why should we struggle when someone does something that inspires us to offer an expression that seems even more heartfelt and sincere? Expressing what you feel is one of our biggest powers. So, say it loud. “I really appreciate it”, “You’re a lifesaver”, “What can I do in return for you” – these show your appreciation — while also adequately highlighting the impact that person’s help had on you. In most cases, people will respond to this with something like, “Don’t worry about it!” But, that doesn’t mean asking it is a total waste. It’s an effective way to make that person feel especially recognized and valued.

Recognize the efforts –

Recognition is a precious gift that realistically costs nothing to give, but it is worth a great deal to the deserving person you offer it to. Have you ever considered that any time you recognize someone, for doing something well, you also improve your relationship with him or her? For example, if someone tells you they think something you’ve done is noteworthy, you’ll probably appreciate them more. Not surprisingly, people generally like people who like them. Recognizing efforts also makes them realize that someone cares. It’s just human nature. It could be a simple – ” You served my food just like the way I like it” to a waiter; “You clean my home so neatly – what would I do without you” to a cleaner; “My coffee is so well brewed, just what I needed” to the Starbucks fella – these are the simple things I am referring to.

Hug, kiss and smile back –

There is no one who doesn’t like a warm hug, a peck or a little dose of love. Hug your loved ones, make them feel special and tell them how important they are to you. Because this day won’t come again.

We can go by without doing all of the above but take a different course next time, say it, appreciate them, love them and thank them – You will be pleasantly surprised on the repercussions of these efforts, both on yourself and the person you just appreciated 🙂 Do what you need to do to not only say you’re grateful — but show it.

Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace, and gratitude. If you want to be happy, set a goal that commands your thoughts, liberates your energy, and inspires your hopes. Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy. Be believing, be happy, don’t get discouraged
