For the love of god, please never ask me to diet or eat less. When someone asks me to do that, I end up eating more. It is just psychological, I guess. Jan 1st, 2017, I took a resolution to eat healthy, not binge on desserts (I have a sweet tooth!) and workout regularly – It does sound tough and it was! (Aren’t all resolutions crazy?)
Honestly, this is a lifestyle change and I can’t say it has been easy. Anything that produces results needs some hard work and dedication. But once you get into the groove, it’s a cake walk. You are going to want to do it more and more. It is more like detox than weight loss!
“Dreams don’t work unless you do” – John C Maxwell.
And today, I feel so good. I feel fitter, more energetic and I want to try new workouts every day. I did throw in a bit of meditation/yoga into the routine as well. And the gym really helps. I am not a “do it at home’ person. It just never worked well for me. Stepping out is refreshing and effective 🙂
I love to eat healthily – Note this isn’t dieting. I am not eating less, I am just eating right and more often. I split the two large meals of the day into four more portions and consume them every 2-3 hours. Breakfast portion though stays as is. I drink lot more water now which just automatically happens, I don’t have to force myself.
In this blog, I want to share three recipes that have worked very very well for me. And they are delicious. I really think you should give it a shot. You don’t have to be necessarily on a weight loss mission to try these. Opt these for healthy living. Here you go
Cinnamon Apple Water
This drink can work its magic in a week – Amazing energy splash and super weight loss!
What do you need – A pitcher, apple, water, cinnamon, lemon/raspberries (optional)
How to make it – Get a large pitcher, place thinly sliced apple pieces at the bottom, add a cinnamon stick, fill half the pitcher with ice, half with water. Add lemon/raspberries if you want to speed up weight loss. Don’t store this in the fridge for more than 3 days. I sure hope it won’t last beyond a day! 🙂 Drink this before every meal. If you want a stronger flavor, throw in some more apple slices. Its all about the flavor, baby!
Chia seed pudding
This makes for great breakfast. And it is really yummy too!
What do you need – Chia seeds, coconut/almond milk, fruits of choice, nuts of choice
How to make it – Soak 2 tsp of chia seeds in one glass water overnight in the fridge. In the morning, add coconut/almond milk in the chia seeds. Garnish with fruits of choice – I use banana, Chikoo, berries. Now add a dash of nuts of choice – Almonds, pecans, cashews. And tada – its ready! Your healthy breakfast wasn’t that tough, was it?
Oatmeal and Pear Smoothie
This is a very filling smoothie. I do this around 11 AM/Noon as breakfast is around 8:30 AM and by 11, I am hungry again 🙂
What do you need – 1 chopped pear, 1/2 cup almond milk, 1/4 cup yogurt, 1/4 cup oats, 1 cup ice cubes, 1 tbsp almond butter, 1 pinch cinnamon, 1/4 tsp grated ginger
How to make it – Simple! Mix the above in a grinder and your smoothie is ready!
If you think above is too much work or you don’t have the ingredients, just use apples and bananas, grind with milk and honey/brown sugar – Trust me, you will love it! Or just don’t grind them all together. Chewing the fruits is fun too.
In addition to the above, I LOVE Coconut water. If you do too, drink one a day – It is amazing for hydration and has a ton of health benifits. I also grind grapes, strain them and drink the juice – Almost wine, right? 😉
Hope you thought this post was useful! Shoutout for any questions/comments. Remember, I am not a dietician. Sharing what worked for me with all of you! 🙂
